April saw the successful completion of the Coe Creek Streambank Restoration Project in Bain Park. The City of Fairview Park was awarded a $66,600 grant by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to restore eroding streambank, reconnect floodplain, replant riparian area, and reduce nutrient loads along a section of Coe Creek adjacent to Bain Park Cabin. By correcting these issues, the physical structure of Coe Creek has been fortified, increasing its capacity during rain events. The project will also improve the quality of the natural habitat. Thank you to the Freshen Up Fairview Park volunteers who contributed their time and energy to the project on April 11 by planting approximately 130 trees along Coe Creek.
