Thank you to all the Fairview Park residents and visitors who joined the City of Fairview Park at the 3rd annual Winterfest on November 27. The evening was wet with rain, but it did not stop attendees from visiting with Santa Claus (Peter Holick), Mrs. Claus (Marie Chambers), Cheeky the Elf (Hilary Glanc), and Buddy the Elf (David Klopp), partaking in the festivities, and celebrating the return of the Christmas season!
Winterfest was a great reminder that community events are group efforts that require hard work and volunteerism. Fortunately, it is not difficult to find support in Fairview Park.
Thank you to the Winterfest Committee—Amanda Creque, Mary Long, Matt Hrubey, Danielle Danburg, and Terri Klopp—along with our Winterfest emcees, resident J.G. Spooner of 92.3 The Fan and New York-comedian Matt Haze. Crowd safety services were provided by the Westshore Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and police auxiliary volunteers.
Thank you to all the community organizations that had booths during Winterfest: Fairview Park Fine Arts and Theater Association, Forward Fairview Park, West Shore Rotary Club, Fairview Park Travel Baseball U11, The Studio of Dance, the Fairview Park Cross Country Boosters, and the Fairview Park Historical Society.
Winterfest would not have been the same without on-stage performances by the Fairview High School Scarlet Singers and the Lewis F. Mayer Middle School Choir, both under the direction of Mrs. Chrissy Karliak, and the Fairview Park Fine Arts and Theater Association. Thank you to these groups as well as The Studio of Dance, who was unable to perform at the last minute due to the rain.
Lastly, thank you to the attractions that contributed to the excitement of Winterfest: The Magic Man, the Snow Sisters, Elegant Ice, and food trucks Sweet! Mobile Cupcakery, Papa Nick’s, Bistro 216, River Dog Café, and The Sweet Spot.
The City welcomes your feedback as we begin planning for Winterfest 2016. If you have thoughts you would like to share, please e-mail Recreation Director Steve Owens at steven.owens@fairviewpark.org.
Sincerely,
Mayor Eileen Ann Patton
